9 Aug 1138 – In Aleppo Syria. 230,000 people died in an earthquake. USGS historic world earthquakes.

11 Oct 1138 – In Aleppo Syria an 8.5 earthquake, a church collapsed killing 600 guards and civilians. Total death toll was 230,000 deaths. Towns near the quake were completely destroyed. (List 25.com. Today in history).

1192 – Acre in Syria surrendered to Richard in 1192 on condition that he gave its Turkish garrison safe passage. Once the city was in Christian hands 2,700 Turks were beheaded. (Gods assassins (c)2009 UK G Baddeley. P Woods).

1943 – Baath party, movement of Arab resistance was formed in Damascus by Michel Aflaq and Sala al Din Bitar. They supported the Rashid Ali pro German regime in Iraq, which set up a fascist background to the party.

1958 – Syria joined with Egypt to form the United Arab Republic. A plot in March 1958 to assassinate Nasser, to shoot down his plane, as he was to land in Damascus Syria. 1964-75 – Syria in 1964 Sabatino Moscati an archeologist at the university of Rome. Excavation of Tell Mardik in Syria. 34 miles south of Aleppo. The site of the city of Ebla. 1965 – Cuba welcomed the founding of the PLO. First contacts with Palestinian Fatah in 1965 in Algiers and Damascus.

Aug 1969 – TWA flight 840 Rome to Athens was hijacked to Damascus. It was destroyed after the hostages were freed.

29 Aug 1969 – A TWA airliner from LA was hijacked to Damascus. Two Palestinians were not brought to trial.

Early 1970s – While building a revolutionary movement in Iran. The exiled Ayatollah Khomeini supported the PLO and al Fatah brigades. He funded and trained militant groups in Syria with Syrian aid on Syrian soil. Shiite Muslims supported the groups, which were dominated by Sunnis under protection of a left wing dictatorship.

May 1970 to Jan 1971 – In May 1970 the Tapline, an oil pipeline running from Saudi Arabia to the port of Sidon in Lebanon, was damaged in Syrian territory. Syria refused to allow the Tapline to be repaired. The oil did not flow for 8 months until Jan 1971. The shortage of less than half a million barrels a day to Europe was felt. 1973-75 – Cuba provided military support and personel to Syria during the Yom Kippur war.

17 Dec 1973 – A hijacked plane from Italy to Greece, flew to Damascus, where it stopped for 2 hours for fuel and food, it then flew to Kuwait.

1974 – Library and collection of written knowledge at Ebla in northern Syria, which was discovered by Italian archeologists in 1974. 1974-78 – Two Soviet arms recipients, Syria and Iraq, account for $8.6 billion or 84% of Soviet arms sent to the Middle east region.

1975 – The site of the ancient city of Ebla. In 1975 archeologists found thousands of tablets and a room used as a library. 8 July 1977 – A Kuwait airways Boeing 707 from Beirut to Kuwait was hijacked to Syria.

1980 – Syria signed a treaty of friendship and cooperation with the Russian Kremlin in late 1980. Syria could get the Soviet Union’s latest and best weapons. Syria has no oil wealth, with which to purchase Soviet arms. Syria predates Iraq as a Soviet client, recipient of military supplies from the Soviet Union.

1982 – Four Arab countries account for more than 70% of Soviet arms exports to the Middle East region. With Iraq and Syria far in the lead.

2000 – The US imposed sanctions against North Korea’s Ch’angguang Shinyong company, for selling missile tech to Syria. (Bill Gates. China, N Korea hit with Sanctions. Washington Times 28 June 2001).

5 June 2000 – China is assisting Syria and Iran to develop advanced missiles, missile engines and guidance systems. (Ross Dunn. Beijing helping Syria with missiles. The Times UK. 5 June 2000).

Aug 2000 to Sept 2001 – The CIA said Syria continues to work towards developing and producing a solid propellent rocket motor capability. North Korea and Russia continue to provide equipment and assistance for Syria’s liquid propellant missile program. 23 July 2006 – Iran’s charge d’affairs in Syria. IRNA reports and RFE/RL. Ghazanfar Roknabadi.

26 July 2006 – Supreme national security council secretary Ali Larijani arrived in Damascus late on 26 July 2006. Nehr news agency and Reuters reported. He is there to discuss regional developments with Syrian officials. Larijani is also to meet with Hezbollah secretary general Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah. Reports on 27 July 2006 said.

5 Aug 2006 – Ali Akbar Mohatashemi, former Iranian ambassador to Syria and the founder of Hezbollah, Mohtashemi was one of Ayatollah Khomeni’s students.

27 Nov 2006 – Two French men were expelled from Syria, they were under investigation for suspected terrorist links.

10 Sept 2007 – The Iraqi foreign ministry said that starting on 10 Sept 2007 Syria will require visas for Iraqis coming to Syria for economic trade or education. AP reported. Syrian foreign minister Walid al Moualem told Iraqi FM Hoshyar Zebari by phone on 30 Aug 2007. (Stratfor intel summary 31 Aug 2007).

1852 – The British were in lower Burma, importing opium from India and selling it through a monopoly. PBS Frontline.

1945-47 – Burma got independence from the British, at the end of World War Two. Opium was cutlivated and transported from the Shan states. PBS Frontline.

1951 – Paul Helliwell and BCCI. Castle bank was set up and controlled by Paul Heliwell. In 1951 he set up Sea Supply corp, which was a CIA front for ten years. Sea supply was used to supply the KMT in Burma and the Thai police opium trafficking. (Global research. Peter Date Scott 6 Sept 2008).

1952 – In Burma the CIA gave support to the Chinese warlord General Li Mi, from Yuman province, KMT loyal to Chiang Kai Shek. Returning to Burma at the end if the Chinese civil war. 1961 – Burma and the KMT 1960. 26 Jan 1961 the CIA supplied military aid diverted to Burma from Taiwan. Free China relief association. CAT airlift and 6,000 troops remained in Burma. The KMT went to Laos, hired by the CIA for a secret war. (Air America. Christopher Robins (c)1979 UK).

1962-2002 – Burma’s experiment with Socialism began in 1962, when the leader of the army Ne Win seized power. He set up a revolutionary council. Ne Win died in December 2002 aged 91 in his villa in Rangoon. (Secret histories Burma. ©2004 UK Emma Larkin).

1965-70 – US in Vietnam, heroin smuggling into the US. CIA Air America to take raw opium from Burma and Laos. Opium through to Marceilles France by Corsican mafia shipped to the US via the French connection. There were about 750,000 heroin addicts in the US. PBS Frontline.

1970 – Report of US bureau of narcotics. Burma, Laos and Thailand was the source of more than half of the world supply of opium.

1972 – Heroin exports from the Golden triangle Khun Sa as the source of the raw opium, the drug trade. PBS Frontline.

1988-1990 – In 1988 anti-government uprising and troops were sent to kill thousands of people in 1990. In 2007 there were more protests in Burma. 1989-2004 – High ranking generals and drug lords from Burma’s We state were buying up land and houses in Myanma. The heroin that paid for their retirements. After Afghanistan, Burma is the worlds largest producer of heroin. Much of the opium used in heroin production is grown in Wa state northeast mountains. The business is … the United Wa state army described by the US state dept as the world most heavily armed drug traffickers. The government in Burma benefits from the illegal drug trade 1989. 1990 – An official in the National bank, protested against the arrest of Aung San Suu Kyi, from the National League for Democracy, which won the election in 1990. (You cant read this book. Nick Cohen ©2012 UK).

1990-91 – General Khun Sa, a warlord in Burma who controlled 80% of the regions opium trade. In 1990 he was indicted in the US on federal drug charges, but remained a fugitive. In mid 1991 he had deposited about $300 million in BCCI. The accounts were fed from Taiwan and Hong Kong.

2 March 1973 – In Sudan the US ambassador, Cleo A Noel jr and diplomat George C Moore were taken hostage and killed. The Fatah organisation were suspected.

2 March 1973 – US ambassador to Sudan was assassinated. Cleo A Noel and other diplomats were killed, at the Saudi Arabian embassy in Khartoum by members of Black September.

1 March 1974 – Saudi Arabian embassy in Khartoum was seized by Black September terrorists. Diplomats were taken hostage. The terrorists murdered two Americans and one Belgiun diplomat.

1975 – Carlos the Jackal aka Ilich Ramirez Sanchez lived in Khartoum Sudan at the Meridien hotel, he impersonated a French arms dealer. A Socialist member of the PFLP. 1976-82 – As part of Cuba’s alliance with Mengistu Haile Mariam’s regime in Ethiopia, Cuba engaged in political and military support for the Liberation movement of southern Sudan. It was headed by John Garang, against the Arab Muslim regime in Khartoum.

1978 – In Sudan another BCCI branch was due to open. This was unusual because every other bank in Sudan was nationalised.

1980 – A payoff to an African central banker Swaleh Naqvi asked Akbar Bilgrami to take senior official from Sudan’s central bank on a shopping trip at Harrods in London. BCCI paid more than $100,000. In return the official put millions of dollars of Sudan’s foreign exchange reserves into BCCI.

1993 – The Third World relief agency TWRA a Sudan based fake humanitarian organisation. It was used as a go between for the suppliers and fighters in Bosnia. TWRA had links with Islamists like Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman, the blind sheikh, involved in the 1993 WTC bombing and bin Laden.

1993 – Cofer Black transferred from London to Khartoum Sudan. He arrived as the CIA station chief. Sudan’s government sponsored terrorism and the US had imposed economic sanctions. A Muslim Brotherhood inspired political party, called the National Islamic Front, led by Hasan al-Turabi had taken power. Turabi proclaimed Solidarity with terrorists both Socialist and Islamic. May 1993 – Pakistan crackdown on Arab radicals in spring. So bin Laden sent money to fly 480 of these Jihadists to Khartoum. They became part of bin Laden’s businesses. Money went to Egyptian Islamists for printing presses and weapons.

January 1994 – By this time bin Laden was financing at least three terrorist training camps in north Sudan, where rebels from at least six nations received training.

Late 1994 – bin Laden was working closely with the Sudanese intelligence services, Sudanese intelligence were running paramilitary and terrorist operations in Egypt and elsewhere. Bin Laden had access to Sudanese military radios, weapons, and about 200 Sudanese passports. These passports added to the false documents bin Laden had acquired for his aides, and for the travel papers of Arab volunteers who were killed in the Afghan Jihad. 1995 – Using Iranian funds, al-Turabi of Sudan helped Palestinian Islamic Jihad return to Israel where it carried out terror operations. Hamas, Algerian Islamic Salvation Army fighters, Iranian revolutionary guards, and al-Gama’at al-Islamiyya also relied on the government of Sudan. By 1995 half of the 3,000 Iranian revolutionary guards sent to Khartoum Sudan had came from Lebanon, of these more than 1,000 were Lebanese Hezbollah. (American Jihad ©2002 S Emerson).

1995 – Mugniyeh was flying back to Beirut from Sudan after a meeting with bin Laden. The US arranged for his Middle East airways plane to make a unscheduled stop in Saudi Arabia. But Saudi authorities refused to make him leave the plane.

17 August 1996 – Sudanese rebel kidnapping Sudan’s peoples liberation army SPLA rebels kidnapped six missionaries in Mapourdit including a US citizen, an Italian, three Australians and a Sudanese. The SPLA released the hostages 11 days later.

Late 1990’s – al-Qaeda got uranium in Khartoum, and hired Egyptian and Pakistani physicists to research the development of unconventional weapons.

1 November 1996 – Red Cross worker kidnappings in Sudan. A breakaway group from the Sudanese people liberation army SPLA kidnapped three international committee of the Red Cross ICRC workers. Including a US citizen, an Australian and a Kenyan. On 9 December the rebels released the hostages in exchange for ICRC supplies and a health survey for their camp.
